Ganesh Chaturthi is on 13th September’18, Thursday

Is believed Lord Ganesha was born in Madhyakaal so Lord Ganesha's Puja timing is between 11:03 to 1:30 pm.

This festival is for 11 days and you can do Visarjan or Immersion as per your beliefs and facilities. You can do visarjan on 1 ½ day, 3rd day, 5th Day, 7th day, 10th day or 11th day. 11th day is known as Anant Chaturdashi and many people do visarjan on this day.

Make sure you are following these 7 very important Guidelines before bringing Lord Ganesha’s idol-

  1. While bringing Lord Ganesh statue you must focus on the direction of Lord Ganesha trunk. The left-sided trunk is advisable. The left-sided trunk represents Ida Nadi and brings peace and relaxing energies to you. Ganesha with the Right sided trunk is considered  stubborn and it is difficult to please Him.

  2. Make sure the Ganesha’s idol is in a Sitting position. The idol of sitting Ganesha is best for the house. If you want to place Ganesha’s idol at workplace then standing Ganesha is preferable. This brings energy and enthusiasm to work.

  3. Do not bring a Ganesha’s idol without crown or ‘Mukut’. Mukut/ Crown is a symbol of Unique and big thinking and an idol without the crown is considered as inauspicious. A crown or mukut enhances the beauty of Ganesha’s idol.

  4. On Ganesh Chaturthi, bring only Ganesha’s Idol. Since we perform puja to please Lord Ganesha on this day, thus avoid an idol that has Shiva, Parvati and Ganesha together for Ganesh Chaturthi.

  5. Whenever you are placing the idol of Ganesha, remember that modak (Indian sweet) and a mouse (Mushak) should be a part of the statue.

  6. Do not set up or establish Ganesh’s idol in Bedroom or to a wall which is near or next to Bathroom. It is inauspicious as per Vastu Shastra.

  7. The area of your home that is not as per the norms of Vastu Shastra, make a Swastik with Orange sindoor and cow ghee. Doing this reduces the negative impacts of the Vastu Dosha.

Place Lord Ganesha as per these rules and get His Blessings throughout the year.

  3. Cactus, Bonsai or thorny plants- Except Rose and medicinal plants, avoid keeping cactus and thorny plants at your home as these are inauspicious. Do not place any bonsai plant as they represent short/ little growth.

  4. Negative Images- Never keep images that depicts negativity must be removed immediately like- sadness, loneliness, war scene, trees without fruits or flowers, nude, hunting scenes, fight scenes using swords, captured elephant, weeping or crying image.

  5. Taj Mahal Picture or idol- Taj Mahal is considered as an epitome of love but it is actually a grave that symbolizes death and inactiveness. So avoid keeping Taj Mahal picture or idol at home.

  7. Mirrors- Mirrors should be kept wisely. Make sure not to place any mirror in front of your bed. Your image should never be reflected when you are sleeping. Put a curtain or cloth if you have a mirror in front of your bedroom. Legends say if you have broken mirrors at home, it brings bad luck for seven years and a broken marriage too.

  8. Avoid things under your bed- Never keep anything under your bed as it causes disruptions and disturbed sleep. Also, make sure you don’t keep any footwear under your bed before sleeping.

Statue or Paintings of Animals- Don’t put any image or showpiece of any wild animals and birds like snakes, owl, vulture, bat, pigs, pigeons, crows, tiger, etc. Vastu recommends not to keep any picture or statue of a single bird or animal in a couple’s room. Keeping wild animals and bird’s image or showpiece brings Violent Attitude in your life.

  10. Pictures of Ramayana and Mahabharata War scenes- Never place such pictures that depicts fight story or scenes from Ramayana or Mahabharata as it strongly brings rivalry among family members.

  12. Avoid placing Empty Rocking Chairs- Avoid placing empty rocking chairs at home as it invites dark forces to come and sit in it.

  13. Brocken Crockery- if you have broken plates, cups or any crockery, remove immediately. Crockery symbolizes wealth and family so when you eat on broken or chipped plates, you are subconsciously inviting failures and troubles in your life.

  14. Sinking Boat or sinking Titanic Image- I also kept Titanic image at home, until I knew its bad effects. A sinking boat depicts a failing or deteriorating relationship so if you one in your home, throw it immediately.

  15. Nataraja- This is an image of cosmic dancer Shiva and it is found mostly in every dancer’s house. As we see it has two different meaning. One that symbolizes tremendous art form and other symbolizes destruction.

2.  As per vastu, the wall clock should neither be placed on a wall in the south direction of the building nor should it be hanged over a door. Vastu suggests that the clock should be hanged on a wall in the east, west or north direction so that it is convenient to look at them while working and positivity is maintained in the house.

3. As per vastu, if the wall clock is placed far from the bed, it is good as bedroom is the place where maximum time is spent. If one sleeps his head facing south direction, then the wall clock should be placed on the wall in the north direction only.

4. Remember, wall clocks or calendars should always be kept inside the building and remain in working condition. No clock should be in non-working condition. Stopped clocks should be immediately be repaired or removed.

5. No clock should be behind real time, but if possible, they should be one-two minutes ahead of correct time so that there is no possibility of being late.

6. The glass of the clock should be intact and never cracked or broken.

7. The clock should be cleaned time-to-time.
